North American Sanbozen Sesshin 2014, Naramata, BC

Welcome to our Mountains and Waters Community

We are a small group of practitioners who have come together to practice meditation for peace of mind and Zen meditation to discover your True Self and integrate this discovery into your day to day life.

Zen is about being a human being and practicing meditation under the guidance of an authentic teacher.

Our Abbot Yamada Ryoun Roshi says “You are born in order to find your True Self.”

When Tozan Ryokai discovered his True Self he wrote a poem:

                           Long seeking it through others

                           I was far from reaching it.

                           Now I go by myself;

                           I meet it everywhere.

                           It is me now,

                           I am not it.

Insight into the Sanbozen tradition

We are honoured to be part of this lineage, and to have access to the wisdom of our Abbot Ryōun Yamada Roshi sharing the Zen Way or “this experience”.

Pass Through the Swinging Door of Life

"In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's mind there are few. What we call 'I' is just a swinging door, which moves when we inhale and we exhale. The world is its own magic."
